THE ARTWORK: AN IRREPLACEABLE ARCHIVAL FIND
- The Limited Vault Archive: This masterpiece represents a rare, finite treasure from our studio’s private archive collection. Hand-painted 22 years ago, each fan is a unique, individual creation. Because a human hand applied every stroke of physical paint and ink to the textured rice paper, no two compositions are identical. The lively rendering of the ink-wash shrimp paired with the blooming pond life represents a highly sophisticated, classical execution—once our current vault stock is cleared, these exact original brush expressions cannot be replicated.
- The 22-Year Archival Date Stamp: Documenting its authentic creation timeline within our 30-year legacy studio, the upper-left calligraphy bears the handwritten character stamp “歲次甲申年” (Suì Cì Jiǎ Shēn Nián), dating this original fine art piece back to the traditional cyclic calendar year of 2004. In keeping with elite artisan preservation standards, the painted rice paper was kept pristinely stored flat in our vault drawers to protect its mineral pigments and charcoal ink-wash from fading, and was only recently custom-mounted onto its frame, guaranteeing spectacular gallery clarity.
- Three-Master Collaboration: This fan is a prestigious collaborative masterwork requiring three distinct levels of specialized craftsmanship. First, a diligent technician selects the highest-tier natural bamboo wood strips to boil, smooth, and finish for flawless handling. Next, a veteran studio master hand-painted the vibrant pink lotus flowers, heavy jade-green lily pads, and fluid pond shrimp from scratch. Finally, a master structural technician with over 30 years of assembly experience custom-mounted the fragile 22-year-old rice paper to the skeleton frame—a rare, highly technical skill requiring extreme precision to prevent tearing.
- Design Theme & Symbolism: Features an exquisite, traditional ink brush composition of blooming pink lotus flowers and rich emerald-green lily pads, beautifully contrasted on the left with highly detailed, traditional ink-wash shrimp. Paired with elegant handwritten calligraphy that reads "荷塘清趣" (Hétáng Qīng Qù)—which translates to "The Serene Pleasures of the Lotus Pond"—this time-honored motif welcomes deep tranquility, pure harmony, and lighthearted positive energy directly into your living environment.
- Background & Organic Frame Accent: A crisp, classic white rice paper background that allows the layered pond greens, soft pink accents, and charcoal ink brushstrokes to stand out with exceptional gallery clarity. While photos mistake it for common wood, holding this masterwork reveals the true luxury of our top-tier skeleton frame. Meticulously boiled, seasoned, and hand-buffed to a gleaming, silky-smooth luster, the natural bamboo retains its pure organic spirit, offering a brilliant, clean gallery presentation that anchors the artwork with modern architectural elegance.

HOW TO SAFELY OPEN YOUR FAN
Please Open with Care: To protect the artisan rice paper and bamboo frame, do not pull the sides apart. Follow these simple steps instead:
- Face the Artwork: Hold the closed fan vertically with both hands. Make sure the painted picture is facing toward your face.
- Hold the Left Steady: Keep your left hand still to anchor the left side of the fan.
- Push Forward to Open: Use your right hand to gently push the rightmost bamboo stick forward to open it.
-
Guide it Smoothly: Let the bamboo slats slide safely past each other at an angle until the fan is fully opened to 63 inches.
(Note for Left-Handed Friends: Even if you are left-handed, please make sure to hold the left side still and use your right hand to push the right stick forward. Opening it from the left side can cause the slats to bind and damage the delicate 22-year-old rice paper.)
INSTALLATION & HANGING INSTRUCTIONS
Effortless & Secure Setup:
- Carefully unfold your fan to its full 63-inch display width.
- Locate our pre-knotted, slip-proof hanging loop on the back of the bamboo frame. We personally hand-tie and test every single knot so it will never slide loose under the fan's weight.
- To Mount: Because the fan is lightweight (only 1.3 lbs), you can simply hang the secure loop onto a standard wall nail or a damage-free adhesive hook (like a Command hook). No heavy hardware or complicated tools required!
